St. Patrick's Day Blitz Field Trip Report
Going for the Green
/i/St Pats Day 306/1-actinolite.jpg

It was the top o' the mornin' and a perfect day for digging. We were on our way home from Atlanta and couldn't resist the opportunity to dig. We visited a couple of undisclosed locations. These places are known to produce actinolite included quartz and clear quartz crystals. We spent several hours digging around in the hillside. We found a good bit of the quartz with the actinolite in it. Actinolite is a greenish variety of Amphibole. It looks like tiny green needles skewed throughout the quartz. This material makes beautiful cabs for jewelry. We also found a few clear quartz crystals, one of which has several inclusions in it.

/i/St Pats Day 306/1-exceptionally-festive-tra.jpg All too soon, the sun was setting on this fine March day. We decided to call it quits and head for the grub. It seemed as though we had the same thought at the same time when someone said, "Waffle House". We could almost taste the cheese-eggs and smell the coffee as we made a bee-line to the good ole W. H. When we got there, we were greeted by "Exceptionally Festive Travis". Seems we weren't the only ones having a good time on St. Patrick's Day. We got straight down to business and ordered our food....mmmmm...it was just as good as we imagined it would be. How good was it??? It was so good, Michelle even ate BACON!! We left Waffle House stuffed beyond all reason and happy to have had such a rewarding day.
