A few weeks back, we had both come down with a severe case of "Pegmatitis." We contracted it from handling a piece of royal blue gemmy Kyanite from Alabama Pegmatite.

We covered much distance on winding rural roads through the countryside. This made for long sirene quiet times as picturesque landscapes passed by the windows. It was during one of these quiet reflective moments when Michelle turned and said, "Hey, I've come up with a new term for what we're doing.....JIM-KAPpin' !!!" She was referring to our friends, Jim Olson and Keith Alan Phagan, who routinely go on successful "recon" missions in search of new finds. They're so good at it, we're quite sure all they have to do is roll down their windows and sniff the air to know exactly where to stop! We rolled our windows down and tried it, but all we got was a bad hair day!!!

...But finally, we hit paydirt! We had pulled onto a dirt road when we spotted glitter. It was a pegmatite panopoly! There were Garnets everywhere!

We collected at that spot a little longer and moved on to investigate further.
